Frequently Asked Questions

Which translations does the app use?

Hindi: Swami Ramsukhdas. English: Swami Sivananda. Both are widely loved, faithful translations. The Sanskrit text and translations come from the Ved Vyas Foundation's open dataset, released in the public domain.

How do I switch between Hindi and English?

Open any chapter and tap हिन्दी / English at the top of the reader. The app remembers your choice.

What does the orange line on the home screen show?

It is your reading progress — the share of all verses you have actually read, not just how far you have jumped. Each chapter also shows its own count (e.g., 47/72), and a checkmark when complete.

Where did I leave off?

The Continue reading card on the home screen always takes you back to the exact verse you last read.

How do bookmarks work?

Tap the bookmark symbol on any verse to save it. Your saved verses live behind the bookmark icon on the home screen — tap any of them to jump straight to that verse.

How do I change the theme?

Tap the gear icon and choose System, Light, or Dark. System (the default) follows your iPhone's appearance. Light is a warm, paper-like theme; Dark is an easy-on-the-eyes lamplight theme for night reading.

Does the app need the internet?

No. The entire Gita — all verses and both translations — is stored inside the app. It works completely offline, forever.
